The CeilSense is currently only available via pre-order; delivery expected early August.
Exclusive pre-order of a flush-mount ceiling sensor that combines advanced presence detection, ambient light monitoring, and an optional real-time temperature, humidity & CO₂ sensor. Standard features include:
Optional extra: USB-C Adapter Set.
The CeilSense can be powered via PoE (if you have a suitable PoE network connection) or via USB-C. PoE is not required; USB-C always provides an alternative power supply. The 110–240 V input remains available at all times.
You can switch between Wi-Fi and Ethernet firmware at any time without any hardware changes. The connection method is purely software-based, allowing you to adapt the installation to your needs.
View full product information...The CeilSense is an all-in-one built-in smart sensor that fits perfectly in a ceiling or wall. For ceiling mounting, a hole of 68mm diameter and minimum 45mm installation depth is required - exactly the size of a standard GU10 spot opening. In existing situations, you can simply remove a spot and install the CeilSense in its place. Do you have a concrete ceiling? Then you can also place the sensor in a junction box. For wall mounting, the CeilSense can be installed in a standard junction box in place of existing switch material. The ideal height for wall mounting is 1 to 1.5 meters. Due to its elegant design, the sensor barely stands out in your interior while still collecting extensive data about your living environment.
The CeilSense offers three flexible power options: 110-240 VAC mains voltage, USB-C, or Power over Ethernet (PoE). This makes it possible to choose the connection that best suits your situation, whether you are replacing an existing spot (mains voltage), want to use USB power, or prefer a stable network cable with PoE for both power and data.
The CeilSense uses advanced HLK-LD2412 mmWave technology that transmits and receives radio waves. This system can detect even the smallest movements, such as breathing, and works through obstacles. Unlike traditional PIR sensors, which only capture large movements, the CeilSense can detect presence even when someone sits still, which is ideal for energy-saving automations in your smart home.
The built-in SCD41 module in the CeilSense measures three crucial environmental parameters: CO₂ concentration (400-40,000 ppm), relative humidity (0-100% RH) and temperature (-10°C to +60°C). The BH1750 light sensor also measures light intensity (0-65,535 lux). These sensors give you a complete picture of your indoor climate for optimal living conditions.
The HLK-LD2412 mmWave sensor in the CeilSense has a range of 9 meters with a detection angle of ±75°. This means the sensor can cover a wide area from a central position. The sensor detects movement and presence through obstacles and can even perceive small movements like breathing. For optimal coverage, place the CeilSense centrally in the room, preferably in the ceiling.
The CeilSense is ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, offices, meeting rooms and other indoor spaces where you want environmental monitoring and presence detection. Due to the IP20 classification, it is suitable for dry indoor spaces. Avoid installation in very humid rooms like bathrooms or directly above stoves where a lot of steam is released. For the best performance, choose a central position with a clear view of the room.
The CeilSense is primarily designed for Home Assistant via ESPHome firmware, which provides the best integration and functionality. Technically, the sensor can also work with other systems that support ESPHome, but Home Assistant offers the most complete experience with automatic detection, dashboards and advanced automations. For other platforms, custom configuration would be required.
Yes, the CeilSense is fully optimized for Home Assistant integration via ESPHome. The sensor is automatically detected and all measurement data and functions are directly available in your dashboard. You can use the data for automations, charts and notifications without requiring complex configuration.
The CeilSense contains 16 individually controllable WS2812 RGB LEDs that you can operate via Home Assistant. You can use them as ambient lighting, status indicator (for example red for poor air quality, green for good), circadian lighting, or as a subtle night light. The LEDs are fully programmable and can respond to sensor data or other triggers in your smart home system.
Yes, due to the built-in installation in ceiling or wall, temperature measurement can be slightly affected by heat from surrounding materials and electronics. The SCD41 sensor remains accurate for CO₂ and humidity. For the most accurate temperature measurements, we recommend combining the CeilSense with a separate temperature sensor in the room, or using the temperature data for relative measurements and trends instead of absolute values.
The standard built-in HLK-LD2412 mmWave sensor provides excellent presence detection with ±75° coverage and 9 meter range. The optional LD2450 mmWave sensor offers advanced position tracking and can detect multiple people, but is still in development. Both sensors detect even small movements like breathing and are ideal for accurate presence detection.
Absolutely! You can install multiple CeilSense sensors throughout your home. They all communicate with your Home Assistant system and can collectively provide a detailed picture of climate and occupancy in different rooms. This enables advanced scenarios, such as room-specific lighting, heating and ventilation based on presence and environmental conditions.
Yes, the CeilSense is designed with future-proofing in mind. We are working on expanding the mmWave sensors, including the LD2450 for advanced position tracking and future variants for even more functionalities. Software updates are regularly released via OTA (Over The Air) to add new features and improve performance. The modular design makes it possible to integrate new sensor technologies as they become available.
