HLK-LD2450 24GHz MmWave

The LD2450 is a 24 GHz FMCW mmWave radar module for presence, distance measurement, and position tracking. Compared to a simple presence module like the LD2412, the LD2450 not only detects presence but also the direction, position, and movement of people in a space. Suitable as an upgrade for CeilSense and as a replacement or expansion module for the UltimateSensor series.

Features

• Presence + tracking
  Detects people and motion with real-time distance and position data.
• 24 GHz FMCW radar
  Operates in the 24 – 24.25 GHz band with accurate short-range radar tracking.
• Detection range
  Up to approximately 8 meters, with an angular range of about ±60° horizontal and ±35° vertical.
• UART interface
  Serial communication via 4-pin connector, suitable for ESP32, ESPHome, Raspberry Pi, and other microcontrollers.
• Compact size
  Small module of approximately 15 × 40 mm, easy to integrate into existing enclosures and designs.
• 5V power supply
  Low consumption and easy to control from existing sensor or embedded setups.

Applications

• CeilSense upgrade
  Replace the standard LD2412 and add position tracking.
• UltimateSensor module
  Use the LD2450 as a replacement or expansion module within compatible UltimateSensor V1 and V2 setups.
• IoT and automation
  Suitable for presence detection, zone monitoring, motion analysis, and smart automations.

Please note: if you use the LD2450 instead of an LD2412 in the CeilSense, the detection behavior will also change:

• You will move from simple presence detection to tracking of people/positions.
• The module will become noticeably warmer during use; keep this in mind with nearby temperature sensors.
• The effective detection area is narrower than with an LD2412, especially with ceiling mounting.
